Bankrupt Bakers Square Restaurant Group Sold

We’re not sure if this is one of those recession silver linings or not: Vicorp, the bankrupt owner of Bakers Square, has sold the restaurant chain to an investment partnership backed by Fidelity National Financial and Providence Equity Partners, in a deal valued at about $55 million. It’s “a very positive development for our family of restaurants,” said Hazem Ouf, former president and CEO of the former Vicorp.

What does this mean for casual chain restaurants? Considering how hard times have been, it’s heartening that the ‘Square could find a buyer. What does this mean for your pie consumption? Probably nothing.

*Yeah, the Trib headline says it was sold to Vicorp, but that’s what we professional journalists like to call “completely wrong information.”
