We basically love sandwiches more than any other food construction, and we'd also like the record to show that we predicted that 2009 would be the year of bread-in-hand.
So it was with much excitement that we read TOC's news that graham elliot's eponymous chef, Graham Ellioti Bowles, is thinking about opening a sandwich shop. Tamarkin reports that Bowles is looking to chefify the sandwich scene, under the potential name graham elliot, etc..
Can't say we're loving the name (it's a little unwieldy, and we can almost guarantee we'll trim it to GEE in bloggery shorthand), but we got in touch with GEB himself about the rest of it. He told us "I'm thinking a tiny place that has a few seats, counter service, etc. Sandwiches / sodas / shakes / sides / sweets ... just the basics."
Basics? Yeah, in the sense that love and oxygen and blood are basics. This is the stuff that life is made of.
