Soup and Bread: It's Back, With Bingo!
Soup and Bread, the vastly awesome weekly fundraiser thrown at the Hideout this past winter, has announced its return this summer — with a few twists. Instead of free soup and bread, it'll be free hot dogs and tofu pups. Instead of schmoozing around while drinking beer, it'll be playing bingo (for prizes!) while drinking beer. And instead of supporting the Chicago Food Depository, the proceeds will go to support NeighborSpace, a local nonprofit that acquires and preserves community open space. The new event couldn't rightly still be called Soup and Bread, so the organizers — including food writer extraordinaire Martha Bayne — have decide to rename the event Veggie Bingo. The fun kicks off July 8 and will run every Wednesday at 6pm throughout the summer. [Soup and Bread Blog]
