Charlie Trotter, the chef widely credited with turning Chicago into a ranking force on the global food scene, is finally leaving town. Yes, he’s keeping his eponymous restaurant open on Armitage Avenue, but after some fits and starts he’s locked down an opening date for his first New York venture, Crain’s reports. The as yet unnamed restaurant, located at One Madison Park, is slated for an early 2011 open. While the special-occasion prices at his Chicago outpost led to a 22 percent sales decline this year, he’s planning to be more accessible to New Yorkers, keeping the price points low enough that diners can get out for under $100 a head.
