Soul Queen Closed For Good

Following the Tuesday death of Helen Anglin, the founder of the south side’s Soul Queen, her family has closed the restaurant, reports the Chicago Defender. Anglin held a non-transferable license for the restaurant, one of Chicago’s oldest and most storied establishments, and now plan to sell the building. “Soul Queen was her legacy,” said Anglin’s daughter, “and that is how she wants to be remembered. I guess you can say it will be buried with her.” [Chicago Defender]
