A Nice, Quiet Dinner At The Bristol

The number-one criticism that we’ve heard (and that we have) of The Bristol is that the place is just too damn loud. Like shouting-at-the-top-of-your-lungs-across-the-monkey-bread loud, loud enough that the next day we’re hoarse as if we’d been to a thrash-rock concert. Not anymore!

As of this morning, sound-dampening features have been installed in the restaurant by no less an illustrious crew than the guys who do soundproofing for Oprah. “The sound level was 90% of what we hear about in critical feedback,” co-owner John Ross told us. “And now it’s amazing, it’s unbelievable.” Tonight will be the first dinner service with the new dampeners in place — consider your dinner of country-fried quail with ruby okra just a smidge more peaceful.
