Barely a year after it was announced (which really, when you think about it, is stunningly fast), the Chicago French Market opened its doors this morning to commuters and gawkers alike. And the organizers barely needed the bait they dangled — the free tote bags for the first 500 visitors were gone within fifteen minutes of the market's 7:30 opening, and folks were streaming in even without them.
