Besides the benefits for earthquake victim relief that we noted earlier special cupcakes at Bleeding Heart Bakery, benefits at Le Passage and Rockit Wrigley, and 5 percent of proceeds from Hearty going to support the International Medical Corps, in the last day a number of other restaurants have added benefits and relief programs to their schedules:
January 18: mk hosts a fundraising cocktail party from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A $50 donation to Oxfam International gets you passed hors d'oeuvres, wine, and cocktails.
January 19: Meson Sabika in Naperville is doing the same promotion, with all of dining sales donated to the Red Cross from 11:30 a.m. through 10 p.m.
January 18-24: Helping in the Wake of the Quake is a multi-restaurant initiative in which patrons will have the chance to add $1 to their check, which will go to the Heartland Alliance. Participating restaurants include: Atwood Cafe, Avec, Blackbird, Boka, The Bristol, Chaise Lounge, Crust, Eve, Goose Island Clybourn, Hunt Club, Landmark, Miramar, more, Old Town Social, one sixtyblue, Perennial, Piece, Prairie Grass Cafe, Province, Sushisamba Rio, The Publican, and Takashi. Added: 312 Chicago, Aja, Berghoff, Branch 27, Fritz Pastry, Lula Cafe, Mana Food Bar, Nightwood. Added: Crofton on Wells, Bistro Bordeaux, City Provisions, Courtright's, The Fifth, Frontera Grill, Green Grocer, HB Home Bistro, Ina's, Kitsch'n Roscoe, Kitsch'n River North, Mado, Paramount Room, Rustico Grill, Salpicon, South Water Kitchen, Topolobampo, Volo Wine Bar. Update: Many restaurants participating in Helping in the Wake of the Quake (above) will be matching diners' donations. These include: Atwood Cafe, Frontera Grill, Topolobampo, and Piece.
January 19-24: 25 percent of burger sales at DMK Burger Bar from January 19 through 24 will go towards earthquake victim aid.
January 21: English offers a $20 drink-plus-appetizer special, the entirety of which will be donated to the Heartland Alliance. [TOC] Updated: This event has been expanded into a full-on fundraiser evening, complete with silent auction and an afterparty at SushiSamba Rio, where a specialty sushi roll (Update: SushiSamba chef Dan Tucker tells us it'll be a "Sinoloan Blue Prawn Tempura with avocado and cucumber wrapped in soy paper with ajio amarillo mayo" for $10) and cocktail will be offered with all proceeds from the sale of these items also benefiting Heartland Alliance. January 22: A Friday night party at The Spot has multiple options: For $20, get a drink package with $10 going to Haiti relief, or just buy drinks a la carte with $1 from each going to charity. Special musical performances abound. [UU]
January 26: Tapas Valencia is donating 100 percent of their dining sales to the Red Cross, from purchases made January 26th from 4 to 10 p.m.
February 19: Michaels Chicago Style Red Hots (1879 2nd St., Highland Park; 847 432 3338) is hosting a gratis night of cocktails, dinner, and dancing, with a suggested $50 donation going to to The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. [Dish]
Added 1/18: Sola has added a special drink to their menu: the Rum Relief is made of Bacardi, Malibu, Myers Dark, pineapple juice, orange juice, and guava puree. Half of the $10 purchase price goes to Haiti relief.
