Ferran Adrià is not afraid to sell out. Long having run his hallowed Costa Brava restaurant at a loss, Adrià is hoping to use his recently announced two-year hiatus to look for new ways to fund the restaurant, he revealed to the Wall Street Journal. Even the naming rights are up for sale: “It could be called El Bulli ‘X’ or whatever. It’s possible we’ll attach El Bulli to another brand.” And it’s not just the name that’s up for reconfiguring. Adrià’s got wholesale change in mind for his restaurant, too. “It may be open on different days, different hours. We’re talking about developing an entirely new restaurant format,” he revealed about El Bulli X. “Or whatever we call it.”
