Charlie Trotter’s sous chef Jennifer Petrusky is having a big day on Saturday: not only is it her 23rd birthday, she’ll also be competing as one of twelve entrants in the Bocuse D’Or USA (basically the culinary Olympics) at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. And her boss is confident she’ll win: “It’s a foregone conclusion,” Trotter told the Sun-Times. “I told her she has a one-way ticket.” That’s one hell of a birthday present. [Digging In/S-T]
