What to Eat this Winter at the Violet Hour

Not that we actually go there for the food (who can eat when there are so many Juliet and Romeos and Tattooed Seamans — Tattooed Seamen? — to be consumed?), but the menu at the Violet Hour has always been almost as much of a magical open secret as the bar itself. They’re revamped winter menu sticks with the upscaled-comfort-food thing that they’re known for — crawfish etouffée fritters with red-eye gravy, meatloaf sandwiches with tomato sofrito, and an awfully hearty bar snack of fried chicken and waffles with maple-Tabasco dipping sauce.
