Who knew Pat Bruno was a beer snob? He finds Revolution Brewing stocked with fine brews, from the Working Man’s Mild to the Bottom Up Wit. He’s also in impressed with the food. “Chef Jason Petrie has put together a short yet creatively interesting batch of entrees..” The fish and chips ultimately wins his heart: “The three pieces of pale ale-battered Atlantic scrod could not have been better. The golden-crispy crust coddled the buttery, flaky, sweet flesh of the “baby cod.” [Sun Times]

Bruno finds Little Bucharest Bistro’s traditional fare solid, if a little scattered. He’s not impressed with the mamaliga, “Call it polenta, call it cornmeal mush, but I wouldn’t call it great. This staple of Romanian cuisine had been sitting around in a pot somewhere for way too long, so it had the consistency of wallpaper paste.” But he’s a fan of the stuffed cabbage, chicken breast schnitzel, and the veal paprikash which is “almost fork-tender.” [Sun Times]
