Old Town Brasserie Closes

Easter Sunday has claimed its latest victim. Va Pensiero closed on that holy day, and now comes word Old Town Brasserie also served its last meal on Sunday. While the poor old economy is once again blamed for the decision, former owner Bob Djahanguiri doesn’t seem troubled by the matter. “It’s not bad news. It’s good news,” he told The Stew.

The important distinction here is that he found some buyers who were probably more interested in the location than the concept. Djahanguiri predicts the unnamed first-time restaurateurs will open a “lower-priced restaurant.” Certainly Old Town Brasserie wasn’t cheap, but we can’t help but equate “lower-priced” with the inevitable “burger/brewery/taco joint.” While it’s too early to call Easter cursed, we figure one more major restaurant closing should make it official.
