We weren’t too surprised to see the Shady Lady bow out early, but Aldino’s is a little surprising. It received fairly good reviews after opening, and seemed to have backers that knew what they were doing. But Steve Dolinksy reports for Vocalo that the four month old Italian joint shut down for good on Saturday. Co-owner Dean Zanella told Dolinksy that it was the, “Right concept in the wrong neighborhood.” Zanella further explains that, “People in this area want eggplant parm and we were trying to do seasonal Italian food.” Has Little Italy lost its Italian identity, or is it just stuck in the past? The other co-owner, Scott Harris, plans to redevelop the space and open something different soon. [Vocalo]
