Phil Vettel gives Sable two stars, noting that head chef Heather “Terhune has gone from homey to hot.” While he admits that there aren’t enough “wow” moments, “nearly everything works.” That includes the fried quail, which is “done in the manner of buffalo wings alongside a blue-cheese slaw.” [Trib]

David Tamarkin returns to Nana to check out its new dinner service and falls for the “fantastically complex,” and “deliciously executed” spicy fried quail with pickled vegetables. Too bad the duck egg was undercooked, and paired with a whiskey cake, which was “sweet as dessert.” [TOC]

Kevin Pang explores Matt Maroni’s Gaztro-Wagon on his latest Cheap Eater column. While the truck is almost set up, the “home base” is “already a victory for Edgewater.” Pang declares the wild boar belly naan-wich is the “the hit single,” finding it “hot potato-hot, tangy, crispy and wonderful.” [Trib]

“There’s nothing here you haven’t seen before,” notes Heather Shouse in her two star review of Rice Bistro in Lincoln Square. But the caring service, BYOB policy, and charming pack patio make it worth a visit with friends. Her one advice: “Bring plenty of booze.” [TOC]
