It is the story that will not die. The whole Graham Elliot Bowles vs. Chicago Magazine spurred a lot spirited debate and curse words last week. Now, with a weekend to calm down and think about, we get two epic essays surveying the remains. One of them is from Lockwood Chef Phillip Foss, who had earlier tried to break bread between chefs. He still sees both sides of the story, but now has mostly come to the side of the Bowles: “I applaud him for calling out the journalist… if not so much for the manner in which it was done.” The second essay comes from Mike Gebert from Sky Full of Bacon, who feels like this experience will make him attend fewer events: “If I suspect your new place is going to be a dog, I’ll just turn down your invite rather than risk having to figure out how to post diplomatically about it without pissing a powerful PR firm off.” Both gentlemanly articles are definitely worth a read.
