Last week the Tribune brought us a few tales of the most horrific customers that chefs have had to deal with over the years. That includes an incredible story of Ming Tsai chucking some Botoxed ladies out on the street after they “snapped their fingers at the waiter.” Today we get the other side of the story, as Steve Dolinsky picks his five places in Chicago with the “Scariest” service. It’s no great surprise that Wieners Circle tops the list, as their notorious service is very, very well known. But second place goes to Gene & Georgetti, because the servers are as “aloof as Uncle Fester and abrasive as Don Rickles.” Schwa also makes the cut for its “ridiculously incoherent and absentee service.” It may have “amazing food and “talented young chefs,” but as “chefs doubling as servers, they add nothing more than a ‘this is —-ing awesome, dude.’” [Trib, Vocalo]
