For a chef that is known for pushing boundaries while still being able to satisfy heads of state, Graham Elliot still recommends starting with the kitchen basics. Talking with the Sioux City Journal, the Masterchef selects a sharp knife as the one must-have: “I always say the best knife is the cheapest knife you can keep sharp, there’s no use having an expensive knife that’s dull.” After that it’s an offset spatula, spice grinder, salt and pepper mill, and a great saute pan. The only real indulgence is his preference for the Vita-Prep blender, which happens to cost around $400. “I use it for everything,” he claims. [Sioux City Journal]
