Okay, now with list making season in full swing, what are we to make of this one from Newcity? To be sure, this isn’t your usual year-end list. Along with picks for best new restaurant (Ria), we get “best broccoli rabe” (Epic), “best restaurant for a holiday meal if mom’s on a cruise” (Kith & Kin), and “best Polish pub with tiki ambiance” (Club Paradise). Good to know. But perhaps our favorite category is “best fake reason Laurent Gras left Lettuce Entertain You’s L20 after it was awarded three stars.” The answer: “Lettuce Entertain You owner Rich Melman refused to modify an employment contract awarding Gras a lifetime supply of M Burgers and Wow Bao dumplings.” If only it were true.
