It’s been a slow couple of weeks for the Frontera empire, as Rick Bayless has been off in Europe and the restaurants have been closed. But as they opened for the first time in 2011, news came that the chef de cuisine of Topolobampo, Brian Enyart, would be leaving the organization. It seemed to be an amicable exit, as Enyart told the Stew, “I love the people here…But I’ve spent my entire adult life here, and I wanted to see what else was out there.” That’s no exaggeration.

Enyart started working at the Frontera and Topolobampo kitchens in 1997 as a pastry chef. He moved on to being sous chef, and finally, in 2007, to chef de cuisine at Topolobampo. That same year the restaurant won James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant.

It’s kind of a shocking news for a man that was known as “Bayless’s ‘right-hand man.’” He’ll stay with the restaurant until April, but his immediate plans after that are still unknown at this point.
