What to Eat at Abiquiu Cafe

While Chicago may be known for its authentic Mexican food, we aren’t exactly the hot bed of Southwestern cuisine. As Time Out pointed out, Zia, the city’s one prominent New Mexican eatery, closed. Luckily, Abiquiu Cafe is planning to fill the gap this weekend in Lakeview. The name comes from a town in New Mexico, and, thanks to a handy guide on their website, we learned that it’s pronounced “ABBA-Q.” Good to know. Anyway, the menu features a collection tamales, enchiladas, and chile rellanos, which can all be covered with red or green chile sauce. Those sauces will be made from freshly roasted chiles, which owner Joe Miltimore will cook on site. Take a look at the full menu below.

All tables are served with your choice of a complimentary order of mini sopaipillas with pepper honey for dipping or home made tortilla chips with our red sauce.
