• Continuing the trend of high end chefs opening stores with gourmet food to go, Nick Schmuck and Shannon Dudas are opening Real Kitchen in Ravenswood. For lunch you’ll be able to swing by for soup, salad, or sandwich, but for dinner they’ll offer food “for you to heat up at home.” It’s set to open April 1. [Chicago Mag]

• A lot of people love the burger at Duchamp, so it totally makes sense that chef Allen Sternweiler would take a “temporary leave” to open Butcher and the Burger in Lincoln Park. Along with the gourmet burgers, cube steak will apparently also be on the menu, which is the first time we’ve seen it on a menu in a long, long time. It’ll hopefully open in June. [Eater]

• We totally missed the closing of La Trattoria del Merlo in Lincoln Park a few weeks ago, but luckily there is already a restaurant to take its place. The owners of Gemini Bistro are planning to open Rustic House in “late spring or early summer.” True to its name, the “rustic American” menu will feature a selection of wood-grilled meats.
