• The West Loop may have a fair number of city’s most forward thinking and innovative restaurants, but one can’t dine solely on coconut sorbet waffles and crispy roasted pig face. Paddy O’Fegan’s is an “Irish bistro” and it plans to open soon at the corner of Halsted and Lake. Though the menu has not yet been released, it is promising “modern pub food, an extensive beer menu,” and “premium cocktails.” Still, let’s hope it serves pub food more like this place and less like this place.

• Bucktown is about to get a new Italian deli called Sacco Bruno. The store promises to serve “imported meats and cheeses, homemade pizza & pasta, fresh-to-order salads & sandwiches, and fine beverages.” It’s also planning to offer organically grown vegetables “whenever possible.” It’s located across the street from the recently opened Antico, meaning you should be able to satisfy most of your Italian needs at this little corner of the city.

• We are loving this trend: Looks like Chicago is going to get another pie shop. Called Wedge Pies, the company works out of the Logan Square Kitchen and looks like it only makes pies for special occasions. You already missed out on Easter pies, but it is taking orders for Mothers Day. Check out its full menu over on its website.
