We are not usually ones to watch Power Point presentations on the City of Chicago’s Transportation site, but we were sucked into this one. Hopefully you’ve heard about the plans to improve the intersection of Damen, Fullerton, and Milwaukee. It’s one of the most maddening places to drive in the whole city, and the new plan is kind of remarkably clever. Instead of all three roads meeting at one point, Elston will be rerouted, which should hopefully improve the massive congestion. The only issue is that it appears like that new route is going to cut straight through the area where the Vienna Beef Factory is located. Did anyone else notice this? The new route is in red above, and it looks like it chops the property in half. Obviously, we are all for improving traffic and we hate that intersection as much as anyone else, but if anyone messes with our hot dogs there will be hell to pay. [City of Chicago]
