After nearly 25 years, Bistro 110 in the Gold Coast will close on August 4. When it eventually reopens it will completely shed its French identity, and reemerge as an Italian wine bar as designed by Tony Mantuano. Talking to Chicago Magazine, Mantuano explained that the still unnamed project will have house-made gelato, a mozzarella bar, a pizza bar featuring a wood-burining oven, and “a lot of large salads.” It will also be open for breakfast, so be on the lookout for Italian pastries and fine espresso.
This also happens to continue the trend of famous chefs creating more approachable restaurants. Mantuano is behind one of the most acclaimed Italian restaurants in the nation with Spiaggia. But that isn't to say that Italian wine bar food is a new passion for him. He actually wrote a great book on the subject a few years ago. We are excited for this.
