Phillip Foss has been trickling out information about EL over the past few weeks, but this video from Chow is one of the first looks we’ve had inside the new project. The space is, indeed, very small, with only one table shown, though the segment seems to have been shot before Andrew Brochu was brought in. The video also follows Foss around town as he hawks his Meatyballs to customers in the Loop. That said, the most interesting aspect of the video may be the revelation about why he left Lockwood over ten months ago.
As it turns out, he seems to have been fired for a tweet. During the great Graham Elliot vs Chicago Magazine Beef of 2010, Foss attempted to act as a mediator between Elliot and Inovasi’s John des Rosiers. At one point, Foss wrote, “Can’t we all just smoke a bong?” That apparently didn’t go over well with the Palmer House, and, less than three weeks later, he was out.
