Eater reports that Barn & Company, a brand new venture from the team behind The Hubbard Inn, will be open on Saturday and Sunday for Taste of Lincoln Avenue. The restaurant will actually have a booth for the festival and will also open its doors to the public. Though only an abbreviated menu will be available, there will be a full bar and a “smokehouse sampler.” About that smoked meat: the most fascinating news is actually that Gary Wiviott has been named the restaurant’s barbecue pit master.

Wiviott has been in the news recently due to the whole LTHForum fiasco, but he also has some serious barbecue credentials; he even wrote a book on the subject! (If you haven’t yet, you should probably buy Low & Slow: Master the Art of Barbecue in 5 Easy Lessons.) The official opening isn’t until August 11, but, thanks to this recent development, we are now officially intrigued.
