It’s really hard to keep track of what’s going on with Bleeding Heart Bakery these days, but hopefully this will catch you up. The organic bakery announced on Facebook that it is planning to open a new location in nearby Elmhurst “before the end of summer.” According to the same message, the new bakery will offer an “extensive” product line, with much of the desserts coming from the bakery’s new “home base” next to Roots Handmade Pizza at 1922 W Chicago Ave. The latter location should be opening in the next few weeks. As for the original Belmont location, co-owner Michele Garcia, had this to say: “I think I need to make a really big neon sign that says we are not leaving the Roscoe location.” Got all that? The past few years have not been good ones for Brown’s Chicken. The local fried chicken chain had to file for bankruptcy protection and was then purchased by Pop-Grip. Luckily, everything is now in order, and the company is set to open a location in Millennium Station in August. This will actually be the restaurant’s first outlet in the Loop in nearly 15 years.
