Paul Virant was robbed on Iron Chef, as far as we’re concerned, and now he’ll have the chance to show Chris Pandel of The Bristol what it feels like. Boka Restaurant Group is launching a series of Monday night Quick Fire Competitions featuring its chefs, and the first will take place at Perennial Virant between Virant and Pandel on Monday, June 25 at 6 pm.
Each chef will be given three surprise ingredients, starting with a protein supplied by Dietzler Farms. Then Virant and Pandel have to whip up a dish and serve 100 tasting portions to the assembled guests, who will decide which one of them did the more impressive job. Perennial Virant bartender Matty Eggleston will smooth the judging with a complimentary seasonal cocktail, sponsored by Tenzing.
Having seen both of these chefs in chef challenges ourselves, they’re well matched; we’d never doubt Virant in any competition, but that Pandel kid has some pretty impressive chops himself.
