Lost amid the news that Pret A Manger would team up with Target in the newly rehabbed Carson Pirie Scott building was the fact that City Winery no longer would. Last we heard, the Manhattan-based restaurant — which produces wines in-house from grapes imported from California and Argentina — was planning on partnering with the department store for its first Midwest location. However, according to Crain’s, that plan was “nixed by Target Corp” for the more family-friendly sandwich chain. But don’t worry, the winery and restaurant is still looking for a Chicago location, settling on the hottest restaurant neighborhood in town. Bet you can’t guess where.

And the correct answer is…the West Loop. You know, where every other big name restaurant is looking to open this year. Currently, there is no official location, so we don’t know whether this will be closer to the Girl & The Goat or iNG. But owner Michael Dorf is looking for at least a 25,000-square-foot space and plans to open the concept by next spring.
