Target promised from the beginning that its new CityTarget concept in the old Carson Pirie Scott building in the Loop would be different. More floor space would be dedicated to groceries and other items that urban dwellers need to survive, which apparently includes smartly packed sandwiches. Instead of the usual Starbucks or Pizza Hut, Target announced that a Pret A Manger will be housed inside. We’d be a smidgen more excited about this if there weren’t already three of the U.K.-based sandwich chains scattered around the Loop. Still, the Trib believes that this could lead to more partnerships around the country, thinking that the healthy sandwiches would appeal to Target’s “typical upscale, female shopper.” [Trib]
