Thrillist reminds us that Masa Azul is set to open this Sunday at 5 p.m. in Logan Square. Owner Jason Lerner has described it as a Southwestern joint, but don’t expect to find any nacho platters on the menu. Instead, you’ll find dishes like duck tamales, fried artichoke hearts, garlic-cotija jumbo shrimp, and ancho chile ruby red trout. If that doesn’t impress you, then maybe the massive tequila list will.

There are nearly 80 different bottles on the menu, which doesn’t count the ten different mezcals or the three sotols — an odd spirit made from the dasylirion wheeleri plant. If you’re not into sipping tequila, what about eating it in ice cream? Tequila Don Modesto claims that is partnering with Paleteria La Michoacana to make an exclusive tequila ice cream for Masa Azul. Intriguing…

Masa Azul will be open every day for dinner except Mondays. Check out the food and drink menus below.
