Lincoln Park: To celebrate Slow Food USA’s “The $5 Challenge,” Slow Food Chicago will host a kickoff event on September 17 at the Green City Market. The goal of the program is to show that “slow food should not have to cost more than fast food and that everyone has a right to it everyday.” The event is free, and you can click here for more information. River North: Mike Noll has just been named the new executive chef at Elate. He first joined the restaurant as chef de cuisine when Chris Curren was brought in as the consulting chef in January. [Grub Street]

Lincoln Park: It’s just a sketch, but Kevin Boehm did tweet this picture of what Balena will eventually look like. We’re not sure about the inside, but the outside looks a lot different than Landmark. [KevinBoehmBoka/Twitter]
