Two great resources to answer that eternal questions: where should we go for breakfast? In this corner: Chicago Magazine, with an exhaustive survey of area breakfast joints (75 to be exact). We like many of their choices, but we find the list a bit of a jumble that mixes upscale brunch places that don’t even open till 10 or so with early morning diners, and generally favors the more expensive spots (as one might expect given the source), including one inside Barney’s, for cryin’ out loud. Still, a list of 75 good places that’s unafraid to bend the rules of breakfast to include the “bloody pig’s ear” at Vincent has plenty to look through over a cup of joe and a plate of eggs. And this list of favorite dishes narrows your choices even further.

While in this corner… Chicagoist responds with a true city person’s list, “no-nonsense” breakfasts “that are simple and approachable. These are spots you can get a solid, cheap breakfast when you roll out of bed at 11, stumble inside and say, ‘Just give me all the bacon and eggs you have.’” The great thing about living in the city is, there will be plenty of mornings to use them both.
