City Provisions Debuts Pair of Local Beers

Chef Cleetus Friedman of City Provisions has two beer events planned with different breweries next week, each marking the debut of a new locally-made beer. On Tuesday October 18 from 6 to 9 p.m., Friedman and owner Ben Finch of Finch’s Beer Co. will host a release party for Finch Beer Co.’s Slackjawed Dunkel, brewed with smoked malt and 30 pounds of raw honey from Chef Cleetus’s own beehive. Then the weekend brings the exclusive premiere of Metropolitan Brewing Company’s Carburetor Rye Bock #58, with head brewer Doug Hurst. This double dark rye was aged in a Templeton Rye barrel for eight months; the lone keg will be tapped Friday, October 21 at 5:30 p.m. and will be on tap at City Provisions until it runs out. There is no cover charge for either event; snacks will be available, as well as beer to taste and for sale.
