Let Them Cook Invites Video Comments Favoring Food Trucks

Chicagoist reports on a new site aimed at overturning the ban on food trucks cooking on board. Let Them Cook, created by Alex Levine who already has the Food Truck Freak site, invites truck owners and the community to post short videos declaring support for food trucks. The site’s list of desired reforms is:

• Allow food preparation and assembly on mobile food vehicles.
• Let them park in any legal parking spot.
• Allows breakfast service (before 10 a.m.) and late-night service (after 10 p.m.).
• Equal treatment of trucks that cook on board and those that don’t.

Perhaps more effectively, the site also has “Friends” and “Foes” pages, the latter aimed at spilling the beans on restaurants who’ve called the cops on food trucks parked nearby— and thus discouraging such use of the police to stifle competition.
