It sounds like a scene from a John Woo gangster movie, played out in slo-mo by guys in suits and sunglasses. But for Hong Kong Chef, a small family-run Chinese restaurant in the 4100 block of north Sheridan which claims its chef comes from the “Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club,” it was shocking reality. According to Uptown Update, around lunchtime on Monday a man ran inside the restaurant, poured gasoline on the floor, and set it on fire before running out. The fire was quickly extinguished and the damage does not seem to be severe, but as Uptown Update reports, “It was sad to see the Hong Kong Chef owners standing outside their damaged family business, looking shaken and distressed. Police said they were still looking for the suspect.”
