We don't know if you heard, but... Top Chef Texas begins tonight and it begins with six Chicago chefs. How many it will end with is another question, though— this year introduces a new process where 29 chefs start out as hopefuls, but only 16 of them will proceed through the rest of the season. At least on TV, that is— in the parallel universe of the Bravo website, each week a Top Chef webisode will feature two of the eliminated chefs competing online for a chance to return to TV for the finale. “This marks the first time digital elements directly affect the on-air story... [this] transmedia campaign will deliver a new level of interactivity our fans have never seen before,” said somebody from Bravo in something resembling English. The Sun-Times has a good roundup (roundup, Texas, get it?) of who the six Chicago chefs are.
• Richie Farina and Chris Jones, both from Moto
• Sarah Grueneberg, Spiaggia
• Beverly Kim, Aria
• Heather Terhune, Sable
• Chuy Valencia, Chilam Balam
