Watch Quay Get a New Chef Thursday Night

Quay, the vast restaurant in the former DeLaCosta space in the River East Arts Center building at 465 E. Illinois, has been known mainly for the fact that you can park your boat out front and walk in. (Well, from one side, anyway.) Now it’s going to be known for the way its new chef got the job— on TV. Just in case you want to keep the secret, we’re going to avoid mentioning the new chef’s name until after the jump, but suffice it to say that the new chef will be hosting a party Thursday night at 9 p.m to watch a show on Food Network called Chef Hunter. Which is about how two chefs compete for the job of executive chef of Quay, and one of them… is hosting the party that night.

The new chef, Dan Marquis, worked at Grocery Bistro (where he was not the chef whose parents protested the owner’s non-payment of salary), Bin 36, SushiSamba Rio and Pasha Spanish Cuisine. He was up against Cara Thompson, a New Yorker who had worked at Bellmore and The Bayou in that city.
