The Sun-Times reports that staff have walked out at Bice, 10 E. Delaware, the second Streeterville location of the upscale Italian chain which had a decade-plus run in the area in the late 80s and 90s, and reopened last year. The paper’s sources say staff had walked out “because they hadn’t been paid for some time.” Assistant manager Ovi Marginean said the restaurant was operating with only a tiny staff (including its executive chef) and that he was calling parties who had reservations to inform them of the situation and that the restaurant may not be able to handle their business. The Sun-Times attempted to reach the company’s headquarters in New York and found the number disconnected, so this may not be just a Chicago problem for long.
