Has it really taken this long for the infamous Malort to become the center of a special? The made-in-Florida, only-in-Chicago, vaguely Scandinavian, bitter and not exactly smooth liqueur, best known as a dare drink in working class and/or hipster bars, goes big time starting Monday at Bangers & Lace. Fried Chicken & Malort Mondays gets you fried chicken, a shot of Malort, and a Krombacher Pils draft beer to wash it down with for just $10. (Now here's the secret: it's not that bad.) Even so, as new specials go we're happy that it goes with fried chicken and not with the Mac & Cheese Flights at Gaslight Bar & Grille, in which three kinds of Mac & Cheese are served with three wine or beer pairings, which are intended to actually be enjoyable.
