Mammoth City Winery To Land At 1200 W. Randolph This Summer

City Winery, New York’s huge wine-drinking/wine-making/entertainment/event venue, has been promising a Chicago outpost since 2010, and when the location in the Carson Pirie Scott building fell through (because the Target going in there wanted more of the space), one might have wondered if it was going to happen at all. But they insisted that they were now looking at the West Loop, and stretching the definition of that to include the entire Randolph Street corridor, they’re now set to join, well, practically everybody in opening a big new spot along Randolph street in a former food distribution warehouse at 1200 W. Randolph. The 30,000-square foot location will feature a fully operational winery, restaurant with outdoor patio, concert venue and event space, and according to the company, will respect “the old brick and timber construction while adding 5000 square feet of new construction”— not to mention about 90 jobs to serve lunch and dinner and present over 200 musical performances a year.
