Video Peek at Publican Quality Meats; David Posey’s Week Off in DC

Publican Quality Meats will open this week… selling bread. Well, the bakery’s up and running, the meat part is still going through the inspection process. But that side should open next week. In the meantime, here’s a video that shows you… well, it doesn’t show much of the place. Nevertheless, in its own way it gives you a little flavor of what it’s about, so it’s below (and believe it or not, it’s the second time in a week we’ve heard the Chicago food scene scored to Buell Kazee, since Big Jones’ Kentucky Tavern dinner was playing the Harry Smith Anthology in the background).

Meanwhile, in other Paul Kahan’s World news, here’s an upcoming event that really makes a positive out of a negative. Washington, D.C. James Beard-award-winning chef RJ Cooper recently underwent heart surgery, and invited ten chefs to take over his restaurant, Rogue24, for a week for 24-course “Rogue Sessions.” Blackbird chef David Posey will be the chef in the catbird seat from February 7 to 11, with wine and cocktail pairings by “celebrity bartender Derek Brown and sommelier JP Fetherston.” With beverage pairings it’s $185; $10 of each ticket will go to Share Our Strength. For more information, if you’re in the D.C. area then, you can go here.
