Closings

Duchamp Closes, Business Sold

Duchamp, a likable four-year-old Bucktown bistro with a nice patio, has closed. Originally started by chef Michael Taus (Zealous) with partners Jason Freiman and Nick Podesta (who also have Bangers & Lace and The Anthem), Duchamp played a bit of kitchen musical chairs in September 2010 when Taus decided to concentrate on Zealous and the restaurant brought in Allen Sternweiler (Harvest on Huron/Allen’s). Soon, however, Sternweiler was focusing on his own project, Butcher & The Burger, taking a “temporary leave” in March. It’s not clear if he ever returned, but Eater reports that Freiman and Podesta sold the entire business and the restaurant closed after Sunday night’s service. No word yet on who or what’s moving in there.
