Get Back To The Land For Valentine's Day With Yuppie Hill Poultry

Yuppie Hill Poultry Inc.

So we ran our listing of Chicago Valentine's Day dinners, but if you're looking for something more exotically romantic to do over the weekend, here it is. Lynn Lein's Yuppie Hill Poultry, which raises artisanal chickens and vegetables near Burlington, Wisconsin, puts on occasional farm dinners with their friends at Hometown Sausage Kitchen in East Troy, which is an old school sausagemaker taken over by Tom Cicero and John Hudoc, two former Chicago chefs (Hudoc also cooked for a few years in Spain, as we recall). (Anyway, their Valentine's Day dinner is a five course meal on the farm, starting with Oysters Rockefeller, then on to curry squash bisque, duck confit salad, steak and lobster, and finally molten chocolate cake. It's BYO, and $50 per plate; to make your reservation or find out more, call 262-210-0264 or email yuppiehillfarm@hotmail.com. Burlington is just northeast of Lake Geneva, and northwest of Kenosha, so there's no shortage of little inns and the like to stay over in, nearby, if you don't feel like the hour-and-a-half drive back... and have rural romance on your mind.
