Tour Bridgeport With Allium’s Kevin Hickey

As we’ve noted, what’s so interesting about the food at The Four Season’s Allium is the way it combines the fine dining training that chef Kevin Hickey has put to use for years with his own culinary heritage as a more-or-less lifetime southsider in Bridgeport. Serious Eats today does the logical thing and asks Hickey for a tour of his favorite places in his stomping grounds, both old (Schaller’s Pump) and new (Pleasant House Bakery). If you don’t know this quintessential real-Chicago neighborhood (home to the Daley-spawning Irish machine since the early 1900s), this is a great introduction to it by one of its own.
