Troquet wears its Frenchness lightly— only the black and white photos on the wall and the nature of the specials on the chalkboard tell you what kind of bar it means to be. But the menu, from Brad Phillips who has rejoined his LM partners after opening The Pump Room, is serious about its Frenchness— that is, serious about being a casual, approachable French spot, with straightforward offerings like mussels and frites, a charcuterie plate and croque monsieur and madame sandwiches. There are also daily specials, and with opening at noon every day, it makes for a very civilized lunch getaway on the north side.
