The long-running saga of Bleeding Heart Bakery may be about to end. Following the dissolution of their partnership with the owners of what will reopen tomorrow as West Town Bakery & Diner, owners Michelle and Vinny Garcia have listed all of the equipment at their new Belmont location on Craigslist and appear to be liquidating the business entirely this weekend. Staffers at the Belmont location confirmed that that store is closing and that the Craigslist listing is legitimate. But that may not be all of the story.
This comment on the anti-Bleeding Heart Tumblr blog says (take with usual skepticism toward anonymous comments):
Ran into a recent former employee today. Garcias filing for bankruptcy and eviction notices have been received for Belmont and Elmhurst. Can’t wait to see how this gets spun and also explains the odd eBay sale they posted about.
We reached out to various parties for comment and received little response including from Bleeding Heart Bakery, but one we spoke to said that they understood all Bleeding Heart locations to be closing “immediately” and liquidating assets. “It’s the end for Bleeding Heart,” this party said.
