BellyQ To Open Sometime This Week… Mysteriously

BellyQ, the Bill Kim Asian barbecue restaurant opening in the old One SixtyBlue space at 1400 W. Randolph, tells Eater that they will open this week… sometime. But they aren’t saying when, and they aren’t letting anybody run the menu or take pictures of the (reportedly gutted and much grittier) interior. How can anyone eat there if there haven’t been photos of the decor yet? That’s a mystery to us, but Eater does have some other details: there’s a Chinese water smoker (as reported earlier; we have no idea what this phrase means, incidentally), infrared tabletop grills, a karaoke room, a Peter Vestinos-created beverage program utilizing Asian spirits like arrack, a wall of moss designed by no less than former Time Out Chicago food editor Heather Shouse, who’s apparently doing that kind of thing these days, and soon, a side venture called BellyQ To Go. So if you’re nearby, check it out this week and see if it’s open yet, and let us know. UPDATE: it’s now Wednesday for the restaurant, Thursday for take out. [Eater]
