Is it a cool nod to history, or is it the most frustratingly un-Googleable name since its neighbor Untitled? You be the judge: the name for the Melman Bros. tiki bar, to be located under Bub City with Paul McGee as the bartender for its subterranean coolness, is Three Dots and a Dash. What does it mean? Well, in Morse code it’s the letter V, which in the 1940s, of course, stood only for Victory. But it’s also a cocktail named for that which was invented by Donn Beach, aka Don the Beachcomber, in part because of the three cherries on the swizzle stick which, to any rum-drinking ex-gob, immediately looked like Morse code. Apparently. Anyway, that’s the name, try to remember it, try not to have to search for it, watch for it to open at 435 N. Clark in late October. [TOC via Eater]
